A Proud Moment For Prep Scouts
Junior Scout Januth Karunasiri was selected from over 120 Scouts around the island to participate in the Turkic World Jamboree in Istanbul, Turkey from 6th to 15th of July 2025. The last time Prep Scouts representing the Sri Lankan contingent was 2015 for World Scout Jamboree in Japan.




This inspiring international event brought together more than 2,500 Scouts from 18 nations, celebrating unity, culture, and Scouting brotherhood.
Countries participating in the Jamboree included:
Sri Lanka, Türkiye, Serbia, Hungary, Algeria, France, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Ukraine, Kıbrıs (Northern Cyprus), Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Georgia.
During the Jamboree, Scouts engaged in a wide range of onsite activities that build courage, teamwork, and leadership. These included:
- Rock climbing
- Archery
- Water adventures
- Campfires
- Turkish arts & cultural painting
- Hiking & Excursion
- Scout games
One of the most memorable moments for Sri Lanka was International Day, where the contingent proudly showcased Sri Lankan culture, traditions, and cuisine.
The team also ventured beyond the campsite to explore the rich heritage of Istanbul, visiting historical landmarks like palaces, museums, and the Egyptian Bazaar. They also experienced modern Istanbul, enjoying some shopping and sightseeing—blending ancient charm with urban excitement.
